Mount Kinabalu

I have climbed and summitted Mount Kinabalu several times between 1997 and 1999 when i was school at Ranau.
I still remember when it was school holiday,i and my friends go to national park to take a part time job.The job is taken a goods to the restaurant at Laban Rata. Its take 4 hour to us to get there.. And the payment just 2ringgit per kg.I still remember that i always carry about 5 kg every time i climbed.Acctually we should send the goods then go back down, but we didn't do it.. we stay at there until the next day? Why?Because we climb it to the top... They didn't know it becouse we have a climb pass.Acctually that pass is just for go to the Laban Rata but it's just alike like the climb pass..
The park authorities are pretty well organized and a guide is compulsory. Travellers from the US and Europe will find the accommodation and other fees very reasonable too, I think. Most rooms at Laban Rata sleep 8 to 10 people in double decker bunkbeds and there are hot showers, but unheated accommodation is also available for those who really want to rough it out a bit.
There are two routes. Although it is about 1.7km longer and less popular, I prefer the Mesilau Route over Timpohon Gate. It's a little more scenic.
Although Kinabalu is considered an easy climb, one should be generally fit. Also, some people do experience mild symptoms of altitude sickness even at 3,500m.
