500 year old walls house overpriced kitsch!
The walk through the back alleys and stone walkways of Rodos is nice; however, inside the walls of the medieval city you will pay more for everything. My husband and I sat down and had one filter coffee and a cappuccino for 6 Euros (approximately 9 USD). Beyond this there are hundreds of shops selling some souvenirs, but most of the goods have nothing to do with Greece or Rodos (fake Dolce and Gabbana T-shirts, Prada purses, etc.). My husband and I are not shoppers and we found the city to be a giant shopping mall with some interesting historical buildings. We tried the Aquarium as well, and while it was somewhat interesting, it is way overpriced, 5 Euros for half an hour tour. To be fair we had spent a week rock climbing in Kalymnos and were in Rodos as a layover on our way to do more climbing and hiking in Crete. We were unable to get out of town to visit some of the beaches or smaller villages, which we probably would have liked. If you are an outdoor person who detests shopping and paying too much for stuff, get out of Rodos Town quickly.
