Situated in the Pacific Ocean some 1,000 km from the South American continent, these neneteen islands and the surrounding marine reserve have been called a unique 'living museum and showcase of evolution'. Located at the confluence of three ocean currents, the Galapagos are a 'melting pot' of marine species. Ongoing seismic and volcanic activity reflect the processes that formed the islands. These processes, together with the extreme isolation of the islands, led to the development of unusual animal life ? such as the land iguana, the giant tortoise and the many types of finch ? that inspired Charles Darwin's theory of evolution following his visit in 1835.
dislike absolutely nothing, it's a place were to go for a good and relaxing vacation I recommend to get a cruise; the cruise has everything and take you to different island. that doesn't mean you'll spend your time in the boat all the time because they also take to tour by land. You'll be in contact with the nature 100%. Just one thing you can't drop not even a tiny piece of paper because it's a national park that has demanding laws in order to preserve the spices and also take water and sun protector. you can also surf, snorkling, etc. you'll get a guide tour either in spanish or english that are very knowledge and friendly. Galapagos Island is located at the Pacific Ocean and they belong to Ecuador in South America.
I really recommend this trip (4 days 5nights is perfect to get to know at least 3 islands) is worth every penny you spend, just make sure you get a good cruise.
Galapagos was more than a great trip, it was an beautiful experience from its people to the beautiful views, this is the place to go.
I had a great time. Galapagos offered places to go hiking, surfing, snorkling, etc.
I stayed in Puerto Ayora. There are bars, nightclubs, restaurants that are open very late so there is no need to go to sleep early. The place is safe, clean and the people are very welcoming. A lot of the tour guides spoke more than one language so that's great for a non-spanish speaking person. The tour guides are very kowledgeable and no question will go unanswered.
I recommend a tour package since it will you a schedule of things to do and won't be wondering around the island alone looking for things to do. I also recomend to do more than 5 days if you have the time and the budget. I stayed for 5 days and I only got to visit two islands, Puerto Ayora and Bartolome. Or, if you really want to visit more than 3 islands, a cruise will be a great choice.
There is no need to stayed in a 5 star hotel since most of the time you won't be in the hotel. I stayed at the hotel Palmeras. The place was clean, offered good service and had its own restaurant.
The food is good and cheap. You can eat or dinner lunch for 5 dollars or less per person. I do recommend to buy bottles of water and to buy a sunscreen more than 15SPF since the sun is pretty strong.
Galapagos is just beautiful and it is worth the money and the time.
