Homewood Winery, Sonoma

During our vacation to San Francisco at Christmastime of 2006, we visited three wineries in Sonoma. Our favorite was Homewood Winery. Dave Homewood is the owner and is basically "a one man show". It had a very warm and inviting atmosphere. Our tasting, which took place in the new pavillion, had tables and chairs for our comfort. Our narrator was very informative and friendly. We learned more about wine - from tasting, to cooking tips, to which wine to serve with which dish, than we did from any of the wineries we visited. Our overall visit was was very pleasant and enjoyable, and we would highly recommend you visit Homewood on your trip to Sonoma. We would also highly recommend the 2005 Sonoma County Zinfandel Port. It was outstanding and reasonably priced. The tasting was free, and there was no pressure to purchase any of the wines.
