Baggby's Gourmet Sandwiches, Charlottesville

John runs a great little shop that will delight you in the quality of the food and the service. Moderately priced, with a great selection. My favorite is the Pueblo. A great spot on the Downtown Mall.

I eat at Baggby's all the time. It is my favorite sandwich restaurant. My favorite cold sandwich is the "Remarkable" which lives up to its name. My favorite hot sandwich is the "Albuquerque Turkey" which has a little zing to it. I've tried all the sandwiches and I would recommend each of them. The prices are great especially considering that they use real beef, chicken and turkey just like you cook at home and the trimmings are all fresh. I love the bread choices and I often order a salad and soup to keep in the fridge at work to take home for dinner. The restaurant is very clean and the décor is pleasant. I love going to Baggby’s it’s a friendly place “where everyone knows your name.”

My colleagues and I placed a large pricy order in which they could not deliver and there was a sandwich missing who happened to be the sandwich of the person whom picked up the order. And when she told them that her sandwich was missing, the owner was very rude and did not replace the sandwich.

When I first went to Baggby's I was delighted that the staff called you up by your first name to get your bag lunch. The sandwich was big and delicious and came with chips and a cookie. The inside was "okay"-- This is not a date place. It's great for a quick take-out lunch or dinner if you work nearby. If walking on the downtown mall, it's great for a place to sit down and relax without the hassle of being seated at a restaurant and all that jazz..... I haven't eaten there much simply because it's a bagged lunch, but it's a different, interesting idea that seems to work. The quality of the food was good.

These gourmet sandwiches are worth the little extra you might pay for an ordinary sandwich lunch! Grilled bread, fresh ingredients, unique combinations! Love it here!
