Michie Tavern, Charlottesville

i too was very pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere and the food,very excellent.if you are going to charlottesville then i highly recomment mitchie tavern.the food is out of this world.and like stepping back in time.

Visiting Michie Tavern is like stepping back in time. The unchanging menu has been one of my favorites since I was a teenager. I love the atmosphere... the period dress, the tin cups and plates, the fireplaces, the simplicity. Not the best place for little kids, but otherwise a fun family place to eat, experience history and have a great time. Bonus: Michie Tavern is just down the hill from Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. This makes for a fantastic day trip in Charlottesville VA.

Experience the days of simpler foods and times. Great food. You go through a buffet style entry then table servers in authentic period dress refresh your plate and drinks. Great historic pub feel. Visit Monticello, then have lunch at Michie Tavern!

this place has really good food, it takes you back in time. It is a really good atmosphere. It reminds me of when i was a kid & my parents & sis & i would go & so would my grandparents.

I have been to Michie Tavern several times and love going there. The menu is very short (Chicken, Pork BBQ, Vegetables, Biscuits, Corn Bread, Cobbler for dessert, and Sweet Tea) but what they have is AWESOME. If you want a flavor of foods served during colonial times then this is THE place to go. From the decor to the satisfied feeling you will have upon leaving; it's all good.

The Museum tour was so fun and entertaining. However, if you arrive after 4:00, the tour is a bit shortened because of closing at 4:30. Guides are most informative and entertaining. The bill of fare at the Michie Tavern Restaurant has the absolute best fried chicken, stewed tomatoes, homemade biscuits, potatoes and gravy, and best of all hot peach cobbler alamode!!

Enjoyed the food. The guided tour of the tavern was also nice. Gift shop contains many interesting thigns to look at and buy.
