South River Grill & Wine Shop, Waynesboro

I had crabcakes--which were very good, filled with crabmeat and the size of tennis balls (I took one away with me!)--with sweet potato French fries and a crisp garden salad. My husband had the prime rib--which he's very particualr about --and loved it, with a loaded baked potato and garden salad. The drink I asked them to make was perfect and they had several different beers on draft, as well as many others. Our waiter was always coming by to see what we needed but didn't hover, was friendly and attentive to both of us. We'd both recommend South River Grill to anyone who loves good food--there are plenty of tables inside the restaurant. Maybe the other poster who complained of space was outside on the patio! We felt like the other diners were happy and relaxed, and we definitely plan to eat there when we come to stay in Waynesboro again.

This place has great atmosphere, food and service. I was very surprised that something this good would be found in Waynesboro. I continue to frequent it!

I DON'T KNOW WHAT EXPERIENCE REVIEWER TRACY HAD. WE HAD MARVELOUS SERVICE, SUPER FRESH AND DELICIOUS FOOD, BEAUTIFULLY PRESENTED AND DELIGHTFUL, FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE. ALL OF MY FRIENDS THINK THAT THIS IS A GREAT PLACE, TOO. SURPRISING EXCELLENCE AND BIG-CITY QUALITY IN A SMALL TOWN. KUDOS TO THE STAFF AND COOKS. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

The worst and slowest meal that I have ever had. The restaurant had only five tables and our meal took over 2 and 1/2 hours. It took 20 minutes for us to get drinks and another 20 minutes for drinks from the bar. When the food came after two hours of waiting half of it was not what we ordered or not edible. Much too expensive for the low quality of food and service. I will never visit again and would not recommend it to my worst enemy.

For most of my adult life I have taken at least one meal per day in a restaurant. In Waynesboro I have eaten in practically every restaurant. Many are good, but from my experience the South River Grill is the best. I have never had a bad meal there. All have been properly prepared and served. The atmosphere is friendly, relaxed, and the food really good.

Unique food with a great atmosphere. I've always enjoyed everything I've had here and their cheesecakes are to die for!
