The food was good, but maybe only because I was starving by the time I ate...
When we arrived, the manager told us there would be a 20-30 minute wait. The hostess sat 2 couples that arrived after us, so my husband talked to the manager, who made sure that a table was cleared for us within another 5 minutes. Total wait time: 1 hour.
We're pretty hungry and annoyed by the time we're seated, but have looked over the menu, so pretty much know what we want. We wait 10 minutes for a waitress to take our drink order (pink lemonade & water). And another 10 to receive our drinks. My husband never receives the salad we order, as our waitress doesn't return until she brings our entrees (meat lasagna and spinach ziti) with bread 20 minutes later. I do manage to ask for some parmesan which she promptly brings, but we don't see her again until we ask another waitress to have her bring our check.
We tell the manager about the forgotten salad (at least she didn't put it on the bill) and he just says it's a busy Saturday night. I know this isn't a five star restaurant, but I was expecting a free dessert or at least a heart felt apology; customer service is definately something they need to work on.
I feel very short-changed on the calamari; less than 1/4 is real calamari (as advertised), the rest are frozen rings that any restaurant can purchase from Sysco. Not a good value and not what I expected.
What a fantastic place. Old Italian fare...absolutely delicious food and a great staff. We were there for the recent art show and ate here all 3 nights...we just couldn't get enough! We are from North Carolina, but will definately make Scotto's in Waynesboro a place to frequent on our trips back to Virginia. Thank you for some wonderful memories (not to mention FULL, satisfied appetites!).
We live about 20 miles away and love to eat there at least twice a month---veal saltimbocca is to die for and the hearty meat sauce spaghetti is the best in the area...service has been great and a neat place to eat...
I was not impressed. I had the chicken marsala for lunch one day. The sauce was ok. Just ok. The chicken looked like to was cooked in the microwave. The chicken was rubbery. Maybe I just came on a bad day. If I ever go back I am not going to order that again.
Wow! What an awesome place to eat! I've never tasted such delicious Italian cuisine anywhere and to find a place like this in Waynesboro, Virginia is a real coo! My husband and I are retired and travel extensively. The treatment from the staff, the wonderful italian atmosphere and the wonderful food was certainly an experience to remember. We now make sure we put Scotto's on our list of places to go when we are planning our trips!
I fail to see why anyone would say Scotto's in Waynesboro is dirty. It has always seemed clean to me. Perhaps the Scotto's in Stuarts Draft may on occasion be a little cluttered, but this may be attributed to a small staff. As for the food: Bellemissimo. All Italian food is not the same, and with Scotto's the dishes I have had have been well prepared, the pasta not gummy, the food has been hot, and there has never been a slip up in getting what I ordered. I am not a pizza fan, but Scotto's prepares a mean pizza, or so I have been told. Recommed it? Absolutely!
Scotto's Italian Restaurant is a local restaurant that caters to its customers. Go a little early or a little late to avoid rushes, but the customer service is amazing, and the food stays up there with it. Definitely recommend it for locals or even if you're just dropping by!
