Flint Hill Public House
The Flint Hill Public House & Country Inn combines a full-service fine dining restaurant, a traditional pub and four luxury suites in a newly renovated building that retains its historic charm while offering modern comfort and luxury. The Public House has served as a schoolhouse, a residence and as a restaurant and inn for more than 100 years. Situated on five picturesque acres in beautiful Rappahannock County, Virginia, we are an hour's drive (60 miles) west of Washington DC. Surrounded by vineyards and small shops, we are a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
OK, you're apparently in the middle of Nowhere, Virginia, and you need some Tandoori pork belly, or the perfect gazpacho, or fried chicken that actually has some flavor - alot of flavor! - so, where do you go? Please, please, PLEASE go to the Flint Hill Public House. I don't why this place is here, and frankly, I don't care - I'm just glad it is. Near the North Entrance to Skyline Drive, this place is worth a twenty minute ride into nowhere. Creative food like this is hard enough to find - and well worth the trip to get it as well done as it is here. There's no salt or pepper on the table (at least, not during my recent visit) and the food needs none - perfectly seasoned. One gripe, and it's a small one, really - the desserts we tried failed miserably to live up to the dinner. But then again, I suspect nothing could live up to the unique and wonderful appetizers and entrees.
