It has been one of the greatest places I have ever ate at. Took my Mother for her 74th birthday and she loved it! What a show and the food is tender and the light sauce is awesome! 2nd time I have been there and each time we get a different cook. each one has a different personality which makes it a unique experience! To enjoy the company or strangers and godo food makes a true evening of laughter, fun, and wonderful food! I recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a good time! and Wonderful food!
One of the best restaurants in Winchester. It is a Japanese grill style restaurant so the meal is prepared right before your eyes. The chefs are skillful though there is a great deal of variance between the performances. That being said the meal is served in three main courses. First is a simple broth that has a slightly salty after taste, though not at all unpleasant. Next is a simple salad with a dressing that is to die for. Ask as you may they will not give out the recipe. Finally the chef comes out and the game is on. After a several minute display of culinary dexterity the chef ignites the grill with a great ball of fire. Dinner consists of an appetizer (shrimp, mushrooms, or chicken liver), vegetable medley fried on the grill, fried rice completely cooked at the grill, and then your dinner choice. The pacing of the meal is solely at the discretion of the chef, and does vary. We've probably been to Ichiban a couple of dozen times and will continue to go for any special occasion we can muster up the money. They are a bit pricey for the Winchester area, but it is well worth every penny. For the more adventuresome both the sushi and sashimi are of excellent quality and preparation. Finally, no I do not own or manage the restaurant, my family just loves good food and a friendly atmosphere.
Ichiban has the best sushi period. Jay is a master, and in my opinion, Winchester's best kept secret. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who's looking for a family atmosphere, superior service, and exquisite, authentic Japanese cuisine.
My entire family love going to this place. The amount of food that you receive for the price is very reasonable, about $17.00/per person, $21.95 if you get steak, shrimp, and chicken. We found that there are different caliber artisans there, some that are totally hilarious and others that are a little more laid back, but are awesome none-the-less. We would highly recommend ! BY THE WAY .. ASK FOR EXTRA OF THE LIGHT DIPPING SAUCE .. ITS TO DIE FOR.
My husband took me for my birthday on 2/28/07. We had been there once before and it was great so we expected the same this time. When it was time for the chef to start his tricks everything to that point had been fine. Then when it was my turn to catch the food it was literally slung at me and hit me right in the eye...no lie!! Neither the chef nor the waitress asked me if I was okay OR offer to compensate us. The manager was requested but never came out. Needless to say we will NEVER visit this restaurant again. We will go to Kobe in Martinsburg from now on.
It was great fun for the whole family as your food is very creatively cooked in front of you. The kids even sat still as they were amazed at the performance of the chef. The food was delicious, though carried the price tag of a fine restuarant. We were slow to be seated even though we had reservations :( It was a special occasion and I would definitely go back for a special celebration...otherwise too pricey for my pocketbook.
