King Street Blues
After working together for many years for a large national restaurant chain, Ralph, Doug, and Martin decided We should be doing this on our own! In 1990 Ralph was the first to roll the dice. He renovated a three story brownstone he found in Old Town Alexandria, VA, just a couple of doors off King Street. With a vision of Comfort Food with a Southern Accent, all that was lacking was a name. He said I've found the perfect building in Old Town but I've got the Blues because it's not on King Street. (the main commercial street in Old Town Alexandria.) King Street Blues opened a few months later and has been a hit with the locals and tourists of Old Town ever since.
Chicken Cordon Blues is awesome. Love the best small salad in town. Reasonable priced, unique, and fresh food. Great place for lunch or dinner. Bar scene is mostly older people though that like to hit on your younger wife the entire night.
I've been here twice. Both times the ribs were nice and tender. I like the corn bread here; it's sweet and moist the way I like it. Everything else was okay, but nothing especially good. I might go back with friends, because the staff is nice and the atmosphere is fun and pleasant.
Large booths and great blues charicatures are the highlights of this outpost of an Old Town favorite. It has been some years since visiting the Old Town KSB, and this was first visit to Kingstowne. Sorry to say we won't bother again. Our entrees all sounded great on the menu but the chili, fancy burger, and voodoo salad were mediocre. None of the entrees were greater than the sum of their many parts, temperature was adequate and soon cold. It was early evening. If KSB is inclined to make this their excuse, then please wake up the 5pm chef. Young families deserve good food, and we'll drive out of way to find it or avoid it.
This is a great place to go and chill or to bring friends to. For the first time, I ordered a catfish sandwich and I probably would have grabbed leftovers from someone else's plate to polish off too. Yes, I do agree that other BBQ may be better, but look at the menu as a whole since everything is different and good. My server was over talkative, but hey, not only did I get a meal, but a show too. Don't be afraid to take your pants off so that you can fit a little dessert in somewhere, this place is intrestingly great.
