I love Primo! The food is excellent and it's always a pleasure to see Jimmy. The weekend breakfast is delicious and a great deal. We looked around for years trying to find a good weekend breakfast place near our house and finally Primo started doing it.
Also, I always get the feeling that the employees really like working there. That really makes a difference to me.
As you will see, the older reviews are critical of the menu changes and higher prices, but the newer ones are more laudatory. I have been eating at Primos since 1985, and I too lamented the changes at the beginning of the transition period, but now I am back frequently. Why? The restaurant is now open 7 days a week, including Sundays finally, the more exotic additions to the menu are excellent, albeit more pricey, but you can still get your basic pizzas and subs if that is what you want at a reasonable price. Jimmy is an enthusiastic host, and will go overbord to make your meal and visit a pleasant occasion. He retained most of the former waiters and waitresses, who are very competent and nice. The wine choice is better. It is still the best family restaurant this side of route 1.
I've been enjoying the convenience of Primos since 1999 and over the years have seen the quality of some of my (once) moderately priced favorite sandwiches decline. But they still have excellent pizza and main entrees.
Service is always friendly but they make you pay for refills of beverages so they won't usually ask if you want one, you have to request it. Annoying...
On Friday, May 15, we had a rehearsal dinner at Primo's for about 30 of our friends/relatives. My son and his fiancee had picked Primo as they wanted a pizza and beer party for the dinner which turned out very well. We made the reservations and had 2 tables in the back room. We ordered a variety of pizzas, Greek, mushroom, meatball, sausage and plain cheese. They all were delicious. Everyone there was talking about how good the pizzas were and since there were several Italians in the group, that is a compliment. Jim and his staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to keep the pizzas and drinks coming and they did a great job. So will definitely be visiting Primos again. Also, the prices were very reasonable. Thank you.
I usually love Primo's but tonight we had the chicken parmesan, calamari, and fried zucchini. It was terrible. Only 10 slices of mushy zucchini and flavorless chicken parm that the sauce tasted like it had been burned. Only the calamari was decent.
I threw it all out! What a waste for $51.
Get it back together Primo.
