Located in a former Shell gas station, this restaurant is one of the finest seafood restaurants in Alexandria, Virginia. High ceilings and sweeping windows give this restaurant a wonderful airy feel. The decor is ornate and lavish. Patrons can select traditional or trendy dishes when choosing among the restaurant's many entrees. French and Californian influences have been merged successfully, giving birth to creations like sea scallops with ginger, and swordfish with rosemary and garlic. Beef burgundy is a great non-seafood choice.

Having been to many of the best restaurants in Washington, I rate this restaurant among the finest. The food is always excellent, especially the seafood, which is always fresh and prepared perfectly. Even so, prices are moderate. We have always enjoyed prompt, friendly service and believe me we do frequent this place often.

I was pleasantly surprised when I had lunch at Tempos in October 2007. The menu had a lot to offer, and not your usual fare. I like seafood and the selection was very good. Tempos is not overly expensive. Service was a bit slow and that was my only complaint. However, I enjoyed the salmon dish I ordered. I'll definitely be back.

Not worth the price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/28/07
My husband and I went here a few months ago. The service we got from the waitress was slow. She was also very arrogant. We waited over a half an hour after we were seated before the waitress took our drink order. The food was good, but the portions were quite small. With this area having an abundance of restaurants, I honestly don't see how they stay in business. We will not be repeat customers.

One of the best restaurants I have ever been to (and I have been around the world twice). VERY affordable AND the food is first class.

It's so good!

Tempo consistently serves wonderful Italian, veal, and seafood dishes. The restaurant is intimate, yet bright and cheerful. Wait staff is attentive and knowledgeable. I love to eat there.
