Not so good - Hard to believe they are still in business. Portions are way too small and the sushi is not fresh to say the least. They really use bad quality fish and even the other food is really bad quality. Only thing good thing I can say is that they have good miso soup.
Osaka has excellent sushi (and other items) at a very reasonable price. The sushi happy hour in particular is very affordable. The atmosphere is a bit lacking, but the food and the service makes up for it. They have the best miso soup and the service is quick.
Really Nice Enviroment. When we ordered we got our Miso soup in less then 2 minutes. Fresh Tofu instead of Fried Tofu was inside. We received our sushi 10 minutes later. This was during Happy hour and the selection is wonderfull. They have up to 4 Sushi chefs working (including the owner) and the waitress kept on refilling my glass. As far as sushi goes this is the place to come. Sadly when i tried my Sister's friends Teryaki Chicken it was very bland in the inside but the presentation of the hot plate was nice. The waitress was nice enough to offer a salad on the house
I Suggest Coming Here for Happy Hour for sushi. I Have not tried the box but seems like it is small and wont fill.
Our Check was $20 for 3 People
2 Spicy Tuna Rolls (12pc)
1 Spicy Salmon Roll (6pc)
1 Cali Roll(6pc)
1 Fatty Tuna Maki (2pc)
1 Extra Miso Soup and 2 Miso soups that came with our Minium order of $8 sushi.
I don't go to many sushi restarunts but compaing price and the fresh taste of fish. This is just Excellent for the Budget and Fortunate Customer.
Not authentic Japanese food. Lunch Sushi Bar does not have many selections and each piece is very small. Sushi rice is much more sweeter than the sushi in japan.
Tonkatsu is paper thin and hardly see the actual meat. Ginger pork is more like a teriyaki flavor with hint of ginger with zuccini and carotts.very disappointed but the greatest price for Japanese-ish food restaurant in this area.
I'm not going to say I was dissapointed with Osaka... but I was expecting more. I went there this saturday after noticing it earlier in the week after taking new route home from work. I frequent the Tokyo Inn every Saturday but decided to give Osaka a try this time. I ordered off of their happy hour menu which really isnt much of anything after disecting the options they give you. The happy hour menu consists of the always clutch Cali Roll and a variety of generic and vegetarian rolls. These range from $2.00-$4.00/roll. The nigiri section ranges from $1.00-$1.50/peice. If you spend $8.00 you get a cup of miso soup and ginger topped salad. First off, the salad was the worst house salad I have ever had. The ginger dressing was very watered down and was extremely small. I did not enjoy the miso soup either. Again, it was a small cup with next to no tofu or seaweed. The rolls did come quick and I enjoyed the presentation with my spicy tuna hand roll. It came out in a wooden rack. The hand roll was not bad, but it was mostly cucumber and rice. The rolls I had were very small in portion size and nothing stuck out to me in the taste.
The wasabi was tasty.
The decor was appealing. A nice comfort environment.
Service was nice and quick.
Rarely, if ever, do I spend $20.00 at a sushi bar and not feel full... that was the case at Osaka. If this was the only place around I may go back, but since their are better options such as Tokyo Inn (Springfield) and Todai (Fairfax) I probably wont be back anytime soon.
I went to Osaka for the first time Sunday, I was very impressed. They had their Happy Hour and the price for sushi was a dollar. I've been in search for a great place to enjoy sushi and this has been one of the best places I found near me. The sushi chef did a wonderful job on presentation too and the service was just as wonderful. I will definetly recommend this place to any sushi lover.
