Tachibana, McLean

We've been going to Tachibana for many years and it's the best Japanese cuisine around, by far. We aren't Asian but we've been to Japan and Tachibana is very authentic and top rate. The fish is fresh and very well prepared. Just excellent sushi. The waitresses are very nice and service is very efficient. It's one of our top two favorite restaurants in Virginia and the other one isn't Japanese. We also like the decor and the shoji screened area in the back. The restaurant can get crowded and noisy at peak times like weekday lunch and Friday evening. If you can get in, the food is so great, you don't mind the noise. Lunch is a fantastic bargain but dinner is well worth the price.

One of the few truly authentic and outstanding Japanese restaurants in the area. While the fish quality may vary sometimes, you will generally be quite pleased by the generous slabs of sashimi (most of the time of which are exquisitely fresh). The menu's variety blows most similar restaurants away, featuring everything from the latest exotic fish to grilled entrees and ramen. Stimulating and enticing to the palate and rarely disappoints.

Fantastic fresh fish, interesting japanese traditional dishes often hard to find in DC such as ankimo (monkfish liver). Owner and staff always offer a very warm and professional welcome. Decor - realy it has to be spruced up NOW.

The best sushi in Northern Virginia for freshness and quantity. No skimpy wafers of fish on rice here, these are slabs just like what I was used to in the typical San Francisco sushi bar. If you are hungry, the full dinner with soup, appetizer, salad, and dessert is actually reasonably priced.

One of the few authentic Japanese restaurants in the Virginia suburbs; presents a good selection of Japanese fare at reasonable prices so you can even bring the kids.

Wonderful Japanese food is a peacful and welcoming atmoshpere and great service! I have never had anything less than wonderful at Tachibana; we drive all the way to McLean and it's worth the drive! Very good lunch menu and very kid friendly (they actually seem disappointed when we come with out them:) It's just a great place!

Their sushi is the best. Love the spicy hand rolls.
