!!! Mealey's has closed as of 3/4/09 !!! The new owner had no restaurant experience, so I think that’s the reason it has gone down hill! I had my first job at Mealey’s and enjoyed it very much! Back then the food was great and service was fantastic! I’m sorry to see Mealey’s close, but hopefully someone will purchase it and keep it going.
Overpriced, understaffed and poorly managed. Went there for a special Valentine's weekend dinner and was greatly disappointed. The poor waitress was definitely overworked and only one bartender on a Friday night, come on! The food came out cold or over cooked- more a reflection that the kitchen was short-staffed than a comment on the waitress, I suspect. I think the restaurant has the potential to be good and I've heard it had a more illustrious past...they just need to get it together.
First trip here under new management. The food is good but not great. The prices have increased. For groups of 8 or more they add a 20% gratuity.
The seafood buffet on Wednesday night looked good with a lot of variety, but again is a bit pricey ($37.50 + tip + tax).
The service good but it took a very long time to get our food. They may be a bit understaffed.
Mealey's is one of the best kept secrets of the metro area. We've celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, promotions, and engagements there. The food is excellent, prices are moderate considering the quality, and the atmosphere is comfortable, warm, and inviting. They always have a wide range of specials, plus several standard menu items that are great. Their seafood preparation is excellent. Service is always friendly, professional, attentive, and fast. I've never had a meal there that was less than wonderful.
Everything is great about this restaurant: food, service, and ambient. I just moved to the area, and love to try new restaurants, and this has been the best I have been into in a long time. Great, fine food. A little bit on the expensive side, but you'll be delightful with the service, so when its time to pay it doesn't hurt as much. The town is very small and cozy, so the setting is perfect for a romantic or family lunch or dinner.
