They rushed us out as soon as we were finished. It was embarrassing to our whole party of about 8. As soon as the last fork was taken out our mouths the check was issued and they wanted payment right away. We had a problem with the bill and they did not want to even discuss it. The food was overpriced as well. We will not be back.
My husband and I tried this restaurant for the first time last night. At our last bite of sushi.....a very large mouse ran across the dining room and parked himself a few feet from our table. YUK!!!!! I almost vomited. I will not go back EVER.
I went here for my birthday with my mom and her boyfriend.... I REALLY enjoyed it. The chef's were so commical and amazing to watch. They kept you entertained the entire time. The food was also excellent !!! Quanity wise, was great too, lots of food for your money. I will be going back... ASAP... this time taking my son! I just know that he will love it too!
If you want good Japanese food...just go to Bethesda's Benihana. The prices at Miyako are over the top...the food is bland, NOT AUTHENTIC...Take this advice from a japanese person who lived in the heart of Okinawa. Their fish is not fresh...but freshly frozen (haha!) Their tuna is supposed to be deep red in color, but its pink..because its been frozen and re-thawed and re-frozen and re-thawed. Their sushi chef is very amicable...the only good thing that came out of that restaurant. When you go to a Japanese restaurant, usually, the sushi bar food is the impeccable representation of their food and their nigiri and maki sushi are horrible...BLAND...definitely not fresh...and conforms too much to the American definition of sushi, which is mayo, cream cheese, cooked fish and nori! Horrible!
I never really ate japanese food before Intill I hate here. It is excellent!! and fun as well, great place to eat on a first date, or family thing, it's great. The people there are great as well, and treat you with respect anyone can enjoy this.
This evening me and someof my friends went to this Japanese Steak Resturant. When you walk in the door the hostesses are dressed in their very stylish custome clothing. When I got to the table; I was shocked to see that they cook your food right on an hot iron grill right in front of you and the other guest who is sharing this table with you.
The table seat around 10 people all together. The chief comes to your table and he introduces himself and his witty personality along with his fancy tricks they do with knives.
The food is very fresh and they make you feel so very relaxed...While he is singing and doing tricks he holds a short conversations with you and let's you try the food, then after he is finish cooking your meal; he tosses a very small piece of shrimp and you have to catch it with your mouth open.
I was very impressed by this restaurant and I will be going back again...It's a place where you can go with your family or on a date and have a romantic evening.
It's a winner so I would suggest that if you like Japanese Food please check one of their restaurant out you will be pleased.
The food at Miyako is always good and the chef's are entertaining, especially for the kids. I almost always order the filet and chicken and I get a good portion of each cooked just the way I request. Everyone gets soup and salad as appetizers while you wait for your grill/table to be filled with other guests. Whenever she gets to choose, Miyako is my daughter's favorite place to eat.
I do not eat sushi, but I've heard that many people like the sushi served at Miyako's.
My only complaint about Miyako is that they need to fit about 8-9 people at each grill/table instead of the normal 10-11 because it just gets too tight with more than about 8-9 people. Also, because the grills can make the restaurant warm, having more people at each table just makes it that much hotter. It can also get really cramped.
Other than the number of people placed at each gill/table, I have had an enjoyable meal at every visit. It's a great place to go out with a group of people.
