Whether a train buff, a romantic type, or simply in need of an easy jaunt to the country, Baldwin's Station will lure all with the reputation for serving the best in Black Angus beef and freshwater fish. Our "New American Cuisine" includes creations of various seafoods, beef, and specialty wild game designed by Executive Chef Darrick Granai. Mushroom Bisque, Cognac Pheasant Sausage appetizer, and an array of homemade desserts are just a few items the press seems to be fascinated with. Please come as you are, no dress code is required. Owner Stewart Dearie's only requirement is that you come to enjoy yourself.
We live in Sykesville so have been to Baldwin Station many times. It's a lovely place with great charm and good food. When open, its especially nice to sit out on the patio - which is closed in and heated when cold. It is a bit expensive, but not overly so and we have always found the interesting food worth the price (a favorite of ours is the Portobello Mushroom Bisque). This is a nice place for a quiet or romantic birthday, anniversary, or special night out. After a nice, but casual diiner, we like to walk around the sleepy streets of historic Sykesville. We would certainly recommend a visit!
This was my second worst restaurant meal ever. (The first being Tides Inn in VA.) My dinner guest and I ordered the catfish special and were each served a very tough, cool, raw piece of fish. We complained to the Manager. The Manager removed the meals and returned shortly saying that he had tested the texture of the fish and said he found it somewhat tough but then proceeded to ask if we were familiar with the texture of catfish - we both are. The manager then offered to replace the meal which we took him up on. We ordered the vegetable stack. A major component of the stack is portabella mushrooms which we also found to be tough. We didn't complain about this but don't plan to return. Meals are over-priced. Location is in an old train station, adjacent to railroad and river - which is pleasant.
