Oak-Mar Motel, Oakland

Very pleasant stay!! Didn t take long to decide I would rather stay in Oakland for 59.00 a night rather than 150-300 at Deep Creek Lake lodges. Our room had 2 full size beds, flat screen TV, internet, small fridge and microwave, tons of parking. We also enjoyed eating breakfast at the family style restaurant right beside the motel office. For the price this place really cannot be beat!!

Convenient location, comfortable room, flat screen TV, free internet, fridge, microwave, nice family style restaurant onsite, just a really nice little motel. Have stayed here several times, will definitely stay here again when I'm back in the Deep Creek Lake area.

Rooms were not clean enough, especially the bath rooms

Great location, very reasonable rate, clean room, nice lady at front desk, restaurant beside motel office which was handy. If my travels were to take me through this area again I would stay here.

Was in town for an ice fishing tournament, asked for a recommendation where to stay, was told by a local fisherman to stay at Oak-Mar. Phoned the motel office, wasn't sure after hearing the room was 59.00 that it could be any good, however, I'm glad I did. Nice clean room, great breakfast before heading back out for another days fishing. Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here 3 nights over the holidays, had a very nice stay. Motel is in a great location right in Oakland, rooms were plenty nice enough. One nice feature of this motel is the restaurant located off of the motel lobby. Great meals, very reasonable prices. In looking at some of the reviews, I imagine some people do have complaints, but for me, 54.00 a night, what can one expect? Next time I come back to Oakland to visit my parents I will definitely stay here.

All was fine until you put your feet up to relax. The bottoms of our feet were coal black. After cleaning our feet for the seconD time, we put socks on our feet and within 10 minutes those NEW white socks were SOILED black on the bottom. The office was called,no one answered. We left a note at the front desk when we left AND the dirty socks. I have stayed there before and it was wonderful. Let's hope the carpets are clean when we return in May!!!! We are waiting ti see if the correction has been made or they have ignored a serious problem.

Realistic Review: If you are coming to Oakland Maryland or the Deep Creek area, this motel is a great choice. There are 4 motels in Oakland and Oak-Mar for sure is the best....trust me, the owner is the owner. He has lived in the area all of his life and is quite helpful with directions, etc. The onsite restaurant is also very handy. Not sure about all prices for all times of the year but I pay 49.99 Sunday through Thursday business rates. For this location, and the wonderful family style restaurant, which still has a Mon to Fri lunch special for 4.95, come on, what more can one want?

Over the past 10+ years I have stayed here many times. Rooms are quite nice, in fact all rooms got new mattresses just a few months ago. On site restaurant is why I really enjoy the Oak-Mar. Owner is a local and is on site everyday to look over any problems. Location is handy also. It sits right along Rt 219 and is just a few miles from Deep Creek Lake and Swallow Falls State Parks.
