Joanie's Carroll Street Cafe, Frederick

Wondered into Joanie s with my sister and was delighted by her personality, waffles, conversation and chi tea. What a a wonderful unexpected visit what a wonderful person, loved it :)

Joanie s Carroll Street Cafe is the most wonderful, cool and very friendly place to go for creativity, conversation and a meal. Poetry, music, paintings abound in this beautiful oasis amid the brick and concrete. Oh, and BTW if you love waffles...just sayin. YUM

If you love wonderful people (like Joanie), waffles, history, old buildings ('n things) and ghosts (yes, ghosts), you will find a second home at Joanie's; it is simply phenomenal. However, plan to spend a while, this is no place to eat-and-run. If you are into upscale restaurants with liveried servers, don't bother; Joanie's is at least as much an experience as it is a cafe.

I eat here with a group of students from the Delaplaine and we just love it. We call ahead and food is ready when we arrive. The quiche seemed to be excellent with a special vegan crust. I love the panini and their soups are fresh and delicious.

Joanie's Place is the most wonderful, welcoming and awesome environment in Frederick. As a matter of fact, when I first walked in...I thought I was back in Southern California where I grew up. I even asked Joanie if she was from there! The food is great, the coffee delish and you can't ask for better service or better friends. It's a great place to sit and unwind and enjoy the community that visits every day. I love her. Her place is commendable.

Absolutely, positively the most wonderful place to hang out, chat, and feel welcome. The fact that the food and drink that Joanie lovingly prepares are spectacular is a wonderful bonus. If you're looking for a 15 minute dine & dash, forget it - you're not likely to get in and out that quick, and you'd completely miss the beauty of this place and it's people.
