Cacao Lane Restaurant
Situated among three lots in three buildings that were constructed of locally quarried stone and brick, some parts over 165 years old; Cacao Lane prepares such menu selections as calamari, fried oysters, mussels, filet mignon, crab cakes, pecan salmon, portobello and spinach gnocchi, barbeque ribs and French onion soup. The kitchen is open Monday through Thursday 11:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., until 12:00 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Sundays.
My first (and likely) pilgrimage here was about a month ago with a date. The scenery and ambience is very welcoming and cozy. It's nice to look out onto Main Street in downtown Ellicott City. However, the food was not so appealing. It was extremely over-priced, poorly portioned and unusual. The duck was undercooked and came with garlic fries (an odd side complement).
Recently, I had lunch with close friends in historic Ellicott at the wonderful Cacao Lane Restaurant. I loved the old feel of the place and the brick floor and stone walls. And, the food was the best I've ever had! We ordered the crab quiche with ceasar salad and coffee and it was just delicious! I would recommend this fine restaurant to anyone that loves homemade dishes and fresh seafood. And, the ambiance was wonderful! If old walls could talk! Stephanie Tucker Little
I love dining in the old building, the only bad thing is walking through a passage that is on the way to the kitchen. But the food is wonderful, I especially like the salads. The staff is great, its great for all ages.
We frequent CaCao Lane almost every weekend whether it be for a cocktail, dinner or just to stop by and say hi. The upper deck in the summer time is a must, you have the upbeat music, the view of Historic Ellicott City and great service. The staff is very friendly and goes above & beyond the call of duty. The chicken pizza is very tasty and the crab dip is the best. The new management is young and energetic and listen to their patrons. After a few times of visiting here the staff will know your name. An all time favorite of mine and we have only been here 4 years!
Cacao Lane is the best resturant in town. I highly reccommend it. the service staff is probally the best i have ever had. they all seem like one big happy family. the food is to die for. crab dip appetizer is definately a must!!! such a unique place with great food and great staff you have to try it.
I love this place. It's cozy, full of character, the staff is friendly and the food is terrific. The crab dip appetizer is a must! They have a standard menu but the specials change with the season. If you happen to visit in the summer, I highly recommend the crab and golden tomato quiche, it is perfection.
