Restaurant is too small, crowded. They put us next to a chubby guy and we kept bumping against each other's chairs with this poor seating arrangment. Food was just there, mine wasn't very hot, but my wife's was fine. I would care about none of this but they charged 7 bucks for a small dessert that gave us bad gas. Maybe they needed to heat it up, as it tasted like it just came out of the fridge.
Probably not going back.
This place could use an update/upgrade. Maybe it was cutting edge for SoMD when it opened, but I get the feeling the talents in the kitchen are wasted on impressing/pleasing a crowd that usually eats at Appleby's. The food is fairly good, but it comes off as fussier version of chain food--at serious restaurant prices.
My husband and I came her for my birthday after hearing good things about the cafe but were dissapointed. There wasn't much selection, the food was expensive, and the atmosphere crowded. Don't wast your time and money.
We have been coming here for several years and we are NEVER disappointed. The food is fantastic and the desserts are simply divine. Expect to wait for a table at prime dining time, but they have a fun little wine bar so its not a problem.
Small place, but the food is consistently great. Always different specials. If you don't mind the wait (and there is a great martini bar next door now to do so), this is the place to eat in Solomons for exceptional food at a good price. May not have the view that the Lighthouse or Dry Dock has, but the food is worth the lack of view.
