Niko's Pizza, Lexington Park

As a native of St Mary's County, I understand how slim the choices can be when trying to choose a place to eat. Nikos remains one of my family's favorites. My mother has been going there since she was in high school, and she swears by their gyros. Nikos has a great, casual atmosphere and is a good lunch spot for locals and college students. During my time at St Mary's College I would often stop in and grab something there because the service is quick. Family owned and run the restaurant has a certain charm which has only been enhanced by its recent renovation. Photographs of Greece line the walls and lively Mediterranean music plays in the background. My personal favorite dish is chicken salad on pita - perhaps not traditional, but good nonetheless. The only drawback is that they close down for a month or two in the winter to spend time with family, so when my family craves Greek cuisine and they aren't open, we have nowhere to get our fix! The rest of the year, however, they're definitely one of our top choices.
