American Tap Room
This is American Regional Cuisine at its classic, pub-inspired best. The food is fun and what we like to call "approachable". You'll also enjoy some twists on the classics with taste-inspired ideas like our Dirty Caesar Salad and Greek Turkey Burger. At the American Tap Room we believe in using local ingredients as much as possible and, yes, everything we serve goes well with beer. Ranging from weekend brunch, to a casual lunch outing or an after-work gathering in our bar, each dining experience is uniquely enjoyable. Enjoy your time with us on our outdoor patio, inside by the fireplace, or by booking a private event.
Note: This is a review of the Clarendon location in Arlington, which is apparently too new to appear on Yahoo.
The first time I visited this Clarendon location, a waiter dumped a pitcher of ice water on my coworker's crotch. A few minutes later, a different waiter started to tip over a glass while he was bringing our entrees. In his rush to grab the glass, he shot his hand out and slammed a dinner plate full of food into the bridge of my nose.
This week I had a work function at American Tap room. I ordered a drink, and when it came, I found several dead, desiccated brown bugs floating in my glass.
I understand that it's difficult to provide perfect service. I know that bugs get into everything, and that even the best waiters spill sometimes. However, my two experiences at
American Tap Room have been so very bad that I would warn anyone against visiting, and the next time I'm invited I will bow out. If I want to be punched in the face and fed bugs, I'm sure I can get that service through Craigslist.
I usually have a very strong stomach, but the food at American Tap Room gave me food poisoning. I had the beef brisket on 2/1/11.
It was mediocre at best. The flavor was there, but my mouth was having second thoughts on the quality. I should have listened, but I was too busy trying to enjoy myself to send the food back.
Avoid this establishment at all costs, especially their light up menus, drink cards and receipt holders. It's a waste of space.
Worst bar/restaraunt I have ever been to....... I spent nearly 1200.00 on a rehersal wedding dinner that was previously set for 700.00 ONLY because the waitress, bartenders, and management were to uneducated or english speaking to figure anything else out... They let anyone in the entire establishment order on our tab for over approx an hour.... tried to kick us out before our contract was up, the DJ showed up early.... Infact the manager tried to physically remove a physically challenged/impaired person from our party using force - which we should have sued for. Instead we will just never return and all our business luncheons will be as far away from that place as we can get.
ALL THAT AND NOT EVEN TO MENTION THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE AND MANAGEMENT that were apparently doing drugs in the bathroom.
Overpriced beers served by unscrupulous frowning bar staff - fabulous! I ordered a beer and was charged $6 by my unsmiling female bartender. My friend next to me orders the same domestic beer and is charged $5.75 by his frowning male bartender. Then we stand around the bar and get jostled by unhappy wait staff trying to get in and out of the kitchen at the back of the bar. Skip this joint and go to Jacksons, Mon Ami Gabi, Il Fornaio or Clydes for a drink in the Reston Town Center.
This is pretty bad. I've been twice and that was one time too many. The outdoor terrace is wonderful but not worth it - the service is neglectful and disorganized. The food was just awful. It was your basic food-service foods (everything obviously frozen, canned or bagged bought from food-service) and just slapped together with no love or attention whatsoever.
We keep wanting to try again to see if it's improved as we love to sit outside - but it's not worth the risk of having to pay for a meal we can't eat.
Trying to help the independent business owner but when they cannot meet or exceed the Chains. Why bother throwing your money away. Cold Food, poor service and manager's who do not care. The kitchen person comes out from the kitchen with open sores and sweaty look. Walked away-I mean ran away. Sorry to see this business on the road to failure. I hope BBT/SunTrust/PNC or whatever Bank owns the loan on this facility can it better, than the soon to be bankrupt owner. I hope he did not mortgage his house to expand. Be afraid-stay away.
