Chakra Creative Indian Cuisine, Irvine

Way overpriced. We went there as a group for a go-away lunch for one of our co-workers. We were presented with a menu with no prices on it. The waiter asked us to pick an appetizer along with the main dish, and we thought it's a combo. In the end we found out that the main dish is around $12-$10, appetizer is separately charged for around $10, plus $3 person for bread, $3 for drink, plus 18% gratuity. Besides, the food is not that great. The bill came out to be FORTY dollars per person. If we knew the price before we order anything, that would be a different story. This is the first time I've been to a restaurant with a group menu without any prices on it and everyone was unpleasantly surprised when the bill arrived. All of us felt like we got ripped off and cheated big time. I personally will never go back there again. never!!!

Chakra in Irvine (UCI Campus) experience was on 4/9/07 at 9:00PM. The service was polite and the person introduced his name to let us know that he will be attending to this table. He packed our �To_Go� items in nice boxes. Food was OK. Then that is all the praise we have for this joint. The appetizers like Allo-Tikki, Just plain papad and Dahi puri come delightfully decorated, having a pricey tag of $10 and above. Even the vegetable dishes are with less quantity for a princely price. So, be assured that a group of 4, may not come up to less than $100. The ambience was so great, we needed powerful spectacles to read the menu(obviously we did not notice the spelling errors). The price is also not mentioned as dollars but numerals(You can imagine a Euro Dollars to the left). I generously added a good tip of 10%, but the Chakra decided to have better tip and simply added 20% of tip (Overlooking my signed credit card slip) . In the bill be attentive to notice these words, �Thank you for dinning with us. Please call for reservations. * 18% gratuity will be added to parties of 6 or more*� It should be a party of 15 or more and not 6 or more. Any way, for Chakra we looked like 6 or more (We were just 4). Please learn a lesson from all the oblivious extractions. Always check your credit card statement. Try not to pay the tips in through the card and pay by cash, if you are satisfied.
