PlumpJack serves American cuisine - the type that utilizes local produce and simple flavor combinations. With a menu that changes daily, you can be assured of a unique experience every time you visit. Try the Roasted Breast of Chicken or Bison Short Ribs and definitely choose a bottle from the surrounding wine racks to complement your meal. The simple decor with lantern-like lamps on the walls lends the cafe a warm ambience, especially in the evenings. It comes as no surprise then, that it was awarded three stars by The San Francisco Chronicle's Food Editor, Michael Bauer.
Everytime I go skiing in Squaw Valley the highlight of my trip is dinner at PlumpJack.
They have unique pairings, excellent service and a lovely setting.
My husband had Buffalo Ribs and I had Duck Breast with Pepper Spaetzle. Our daughter (8) and her girlfriend shared a cheese fondue with broccoli, sausage and bread which they loved.
The staff is very accomodating for two small, well-behaved girls.
The wine list is extraordinary and reasonably priced.
Even if you don't have time for a high-end dinner, you can enjoy a local microbrew at their gorgeous bar near the open hearth.
This service team is efficient, well-trained and the chef does a fabulous job with every dish.
Don't miss it!
