Fleming's Prime Steakhouse
Fleming's is one of the best steakhouses in Sarasota, and one of the most famous restaurant chains in America. Steak options you can expect to find on the menu include Filet Mignon, New York Strip, Beef Flemington, Veal Chops, Pork Rib Chop, and Prime Ribs. Ask your waiter to help you choose from among the 100 different wines available to go with your meal. If you're not a meat fan, then sample the fresh seafood and scrumptious side dishes. The Salmon, with its signature Mashed Potatoes, is highly recommended.
When I am in Sarasota I go there about three times a week...........there are many good restaurants in Sarasota but I like this one most of all...When I call for a reservation and give my last name they ask me if it is Matt..........they will say "Matt"?..so they have a system where when you give your last name they look it up to see if you have been there before and make you feel as though they know you.........it is a nice bit but that is only the beginning.they also know what table you like and try to have it for you when you arrive..........I once asked they waitress if they still had baby stuffed artichokes and she went to ask the chef she returned and said they no longer have them....when I came in on a return visit they had bought them special for me and surprised me with them as an appetizer..they chef came to my table later and gave me his card and said that if there was anything I wanted that wasn't on the menu to call ahead and he would make it for me........THAT is service and careing.........the food is always very good........steaks and the calamari are the best...........forget the price....it is fair for that kind of place........if you can't afford it don't go there........I can't wait for January when I spend a month in Sarasota to go there again.........and it is NOT too loud
Everyone is using the word "pricey" or expensive, but how do YOU know what someone else means by that? It's May 2007. We went for the first time last night. The food was very good, and the portions were large. I had a bowl of French onion soup, a New York Strip steak, and an order of Onion rings. Wife had a petite fillet mignon, baked potato and salad. We don't drink, so I didn't pay attention to the prices on the wine list or drink menu. Our tab without tip was $104.00.
The ambiance is very nice. A classic up-scale steak house. The food was very good. The steak was done precisly as I requested. My order of Onion rings was big enough for 2, as was my wifes' baked potato, both were delicious.
My only complaint, and this is minor, is the attentivness of the staff. They over-do it. I want the waitress, and the manager to stop by and make sure all is well. However, they kept coming back over and over. And they weren't satisfied with "yes, everything is fine." They wanted to know if the steak was done correctly, do you like the Onion rings, and on and on. Waitress did this at least twice, one manager type did it twice, and a third did it again. It's hard to fault a business that's trying to make sure you're satisfied, but I found the constant interuptions to be a nuisance. It was our anniversary, I wanted to pay attention to my wife, not the manager. However, we will certainly go back, over all it was a very good experience.
The service, food quality, and presentation was superb. Love the place. A little pricey, but compares very favorably to all the other prime steakhouses such as Ruth Chris. Wouldn't hesitate to go back again.
Reservations mean wait until we're ready!
The place is LOUD! Don't expect quiet moments at the table. Do expect a great steak and a price tag to match. The wine list is about 3-4 times the cost what you would pay in a store.
Valet parking (in the Social Security Building parking lot!)adds to the expense.
Go on someone else's expense account.
