Mediocre experience that turned terrible.

The ride itself wasn't too bad, but it's probably not what you'd expect. The cars are very under-powered for San Francisco, and our car would sometimes start out okay, but then loose power to the point we could barely get moving on a slim incline. I apologize to all the SF drivers that had to deal with me. Also remember that you're in a tiny car in traffic; you breathe in a lot more exhaust than you'd think. GoCars are all the stress and headache of waiting in traffic without the enclosed, atmosphere controlled environment of a real car.
Second, be very careful of your time. They claim that they give you a 15 minute buffer before you head out, but that is a completely false claim. Their timekeeping is TERRIBLE. We kept track of the time and found ourselves back in the garage (and standing in the office) with a good 5 minutes to spare, and well within the buffer. But the guys behind the desk argued rudely, demanding that we were 25 minutes over. There is absolutely no way this can be true, even allowing for the time we spent in line and watching the safety video. I ended up paying for the extra time, and we left angry.
The reason I'm writing this review is because I just realized they charged me $25 extra, not the $12 the stupid young man behind the counter told me I would be charged. Turns out, the ticket we got for $30 that should have given us an hour, only technically paid $65 worth of an hour, which costs $71. Was there fine print somewhere that I missed? These kind of sneaky billing tactics make me furious.
We're still angry about the experience. The only sore spot on our vacation. When you visit SF this year, avoid GoCars. Go for a walk instead.
