When Fish opened its doors to the city in 2000, it was voted as one of the best new restaurants in town. Years later, it still sets the standard with its fresh seafood and laid-back atmosphere. The menu with its myriad of innovative dishes only uses seasonal fish from local farms in South Carolina. The Autumn lunch menu is delicious with Seared Salmon, the Louisiana PO Boy that is made up of fired oysters, Peninsula Crab Cakes and the standard but delicious Fish & Chips. Fish also caters to private parties and offers some fun options, such as the Cooking Classes where as they say, "Your Kitchen's the stage".
I agree - Fish used to be one of, if not the best restaurant in Charleston. Lately, I have no clue what's happened, but it has gotten just plain awful. My last meal there will definitely be my LAST. One wouldn't think you could really botch up a fish entree too badly, but apparently you can. Hopefully they'll get back on track, but I think I'll pass on Fish for now.
I'm not sure what's happened to Fish lately, but something certainly is indeed "fishy" here. I've been a regular at this establishment since it opened and it has always been really good up until recently. Now it's run of the mill fare - my last meal was just terrible. I had the "Wreckfish" which was horrendous. Overcooked, tasteless. Just plain BAD. The tomato broth that came with it tasted like someone had dumped a container of salt in it. Even the service isn't like it used to be. We waited forever between courses, drinks weren't promptly refilled. Just disasterous from start to finish. Save your money - you'd get a better "fish" dinner at Captain D's. Sure hope they can get this place straightened out!
FISH used to be a pretty good restaurant. Lately it really lacks consistency. On some visits you can get a great meal - others you can barely eat it. I don't know what is going on here, but the last time I visited (8/29) the food was awful and the service was mediocre.
My wife & I like to go to hear the singer that they usually feature on Wednesdays. I called today to make reservations and was told that they have even let him go! As far as I am concerned, he was the only thing that they had going for them at this point. What a disappointment! We will be eating elsewhere on Wednesdays now.
I am a local and go out to dinner every Saturday night. My wife and I first went to Fish a few months ago and had a great meal. We went back again last month and had terrible service tasteless food (that was luke warm). This is too bad because we thoroughly enjoyed the first meal.
Just entering this museum is a delight. The structure extends out over Charleston Harbor, and as guests draw near the
entrance, they enter beneath a beautiful stained glass wall. Entering the Great Hall, the centerpiece is the breathtaking Carolina ...
