The Palm continues to excel as a straight ahead classic steakhouse. The food is top quality, and the service is kind of chummy over the top New York style. The wine list is not as overpriced as it once was, which is probably a nod to the reality of the Great Recession. Overall, it's my favorite steakhouse in DC.

First, I've never been to the downtown location. I live in McLean. There are more than ten steakhouses within 2 miles. I've been to all of them. The Palm and Flemings are the best, but Flemings isn't open for lunch. The Palmhas great food. The best drinks. Great service.

Following up on warrenc0216's review, I have to say that I refuse to go back to the DC palm until it is made clear to the public that there is nothing to worry about. It used to be my favorite restaurant, but now after hearing things like chefs having cuts and soars on the hands while preparing deserts with no gloves, and water temp's not being hot enough to clean the dishes... I wont go back. I feel bad for the chain, as this will set them back.

I took numerous clients and office persons here for a business lunch during the week of March 8th. Two persons were ill that evening. The Washington Examiner reported on March 11th that the Palm had 10 serious food violations. This restaurant has sadly fallen to a disgraceful level of food quality. Beware. Zagats does not post links, so search Washington Examiner March 11th 2010 Palm to see article.

OK, I'm being unfair in rating the food just fair, but any place which tries to impress through its portion size and guest list should not be taken seriously by a foodie. Worst are the lobsters offered at sizes far past their most tasty.
