Paolo's Ristorante - Georgetown
The very first Paolo's found its home in historic Georgetown in the 1980's, and has been a Georgetown staple ever since. The bustling ristorante has become a corner fixture in this centuries old melting pot amongst politicians, travelers, shoppers and students. Dine outside and watch the world go by, or sit inside and watch your pizza being prepared in our fabulous brick oven, and most of all - enjoy! Located in the heart of Georgetown, Paolo's serves fine Cal-Italian cuisine full of exciting pizzas and exquisite pastas.
My girlfriend and I found this Paolo's in a hotel restaurant magazine and decided to try it. Wow was it a good choice! The food is fantastic! Both dishes were like a flavor explosion and very robust too. The two of the four bread sticks were a slightly tough, but the paste that they give to eat with them was very very good , I want the receipt! We will DEFINITELY recommend to friends and family if and when they visit DC, if not just to go to eat here!
If you fresh Italian cuisine, this is a good bet. I had lunch here on a nice summer day and the food was great. The bruschetta with chutney appetizer was a definite highlight. The location is great, you can enjoy a good stroll through Georgetown and still be within a short distance of the DC museums, etc. I have to admit that it was a little pricy though, and my waiter was sort of snobby. If you can overlook those possibilities, the food won't disappoint.
I haven't visited the DC area for years but I went back last week for a business trip. My first night there I went to Georgetown and had dinner at Paolo's. The atmosphere was casual and welcoming. The service was friendly and prompt. We were made to feel like we had been coming there for years. The food was delicious. The clientele age I saw was from college students to upper 40's and 50's. It seemes like a place where anyone could come to relax and have some good food and drinks. It definitley had a big city flare with a small town heart. My partner and I went back twice while we were staying in DC. I would feel comfortable in saying that this place could cover any mood you want accomplished whether it be romantic, dining with friends or a business dinner. Thanks Paolo's!
