Legal Sea Foods - 7th Street
The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods - really fresh fish. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there's no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. A bipartisan favorite, we have occupied the nation's capital since 1995, anchored across from the Verizon Center and around the corner from the International Spy Museum, National Portrait Gallery and Chinatown. Make waves at our racetrack-shaped bar or sup on seafood underneath the hull-like ceiling in our restaurant's main dining room. Either way, be presidential and order a cup of our New England Clam Chowder; it's been served at every Inauguration since 1981. Other accolades include "Best Place for Great Seafood" (Washingtonian Magazine, 2008) and "Best Crab Cakes" (Washingtonian Magazine, 2008)
Some of the worst seafood available in the DC area. Why would anyone from here want to go spend this much money on some frozen fish is beyond me. Theres great local seafood nearby! Anyone who raves about legal seafood or mccormick and schmicks in the dc area is nuts! We dont specalize in foreign fish around here, we specialize in crabs, shrimp, crabs, rockfish, and more crabs and shrimp. Thats what we eat, thats what we pay for, and thats what we want, not frozen fish from legal seafoods. If you want seafood in downtown DC, you gotta go to Phillips on the southwest waterfront. Thats what we call seafood around here, and we know our seafood!
I'm not sure about the food at this location, as it seems that I couldn't make it past being verbally abused (by Kaycee, the horrible man who answered the telephone) when I called to make reservations for an upcoming birthday dinner. Kaycee was shockingly RUDE! The General Manager, David Doward, was kind, but thanks to Kaycee, the damage is done. I don't see any need to subject myself to potentially WORSE service in person, so I'm taking my party to Tony & Joe's instead. Thank you, Kaycee.
