The Cultured Pearl Restaurant and Sushi Bar, Rehoboth Beach

We stopped in for dinner around 7pm. The restaurant is multilevel and sits atop some small shops. The host was prompt but a little curt. The waiter was prompt and attentive. We chose mixed veg. tempura, tuna cheek, pork dumplings and sashimi sampler. The cheek was excellent (try this), the dumplings were bland & a little chewy, veg was fine and fish was good. Didn't get a chance to look around inside too much. It is fine but not quite up to some of our favorite sushi places. Not part of the review but be careful about the sun/heat when choosing to sit outside. The deck/koi pond was nice if not a little dirty.

Excellent Japanese cuisine offering fresh sushi and sashimi. Extensive beer and saki listings also. Wife and I dined on combos of sushi maki and rolls - all were very fresh and flavorful. Also had appetizer of edamame - they have it 6 different ways. Service was a bit slow as the place was packed, but very friendly and thorough - really glad you were enjoying yourself. We'd definitely go back for dinner again.

Absolutely the best, period. Not only at the beach but in all of Delaware. You can't beat the food, service or decor. We love it.

We love this restaurant because the sushi is amazing. My husband gets the chicken and a roll for his dinner and is always satisfied. I just get the sushi. The crab soup is amazing although very pricey. It is a little overpriced overall and so we don't go often. It is also much better when they are not busy. When they are too busy you tend to be forgotten a bit, the service isnt as good, and the food suffers a bit.

Their rooftop deck is worth waiting for .... sip drinks and watch Rehoboth go by--and the goldfish swim around your seats. Good sushi (very creative--stop by and watch it being made). Recommend the dragon roll (with the dragon fangs and all).

We have been going to this restaurant for several years and it used to be good. They moved this year, and the restaurant changed significantly. We arrived with reservations and were seated in a section with ugly bamboo wallpaper and very uncomfortable benches. We asked if we could move, and we were told we would have to wait 45 minutes if we wanted a different table. That is, we would have to go to the end of the line. When we complained about this to the manager at the end of the meal, we were told to call the owner the next day. When my mother offered to pay the check the next day after speaking with the owner, a different owner arrived from the kitchen. This particular owner told her that it was “our decision” to eat at his restaurant, and that it was restaurant policy to make guests wait at the end of the line if they don’t like their table. The food was ok, but the ugly atmosphere, arrogant management, and two other sushi restaurants just down the road make this restaurant worth a pass.

Let me say first that I have worked in the restaurant business for 27 years and I have a standing rule to always give restaurants the benefit of the doubt, any place can have an off day. But my experience at the Cultured Pearl was so bad that I have changed that rule. I can overlook hostesses that "lose" reservations and then act as if it is my fault, I can overlook being moved from table to table because..well, I guess we were never given an excuse, I can excuse a slooooooow and unfriendly greeting by the server (the busser was cheerful and fast to bring water) I can even excuse the general filthiness of the restaurant--they were busy. But when the manager (?) came over and was hostile to us when we told her about these things--she did not once try and make amends--I have to say, I will not be back. It is a shame too, becuase underneath all of the filth, it appeared to be fairly attractive. I cannot speak to the food, obviously I was not going to give them my money for dinner. I only will say to anyone willing to give them a chance--Good Luck--I am afraid you may need it!

Excellent food and service, very nice people.They have the best sushi in the lower Delaware area.

We are part-time residents in RB, and the Cultured Pearl is our absolute favorite restuarant. Great for New Year's Eve, too! Everything is delicious!

Cultured Pearl is a wonderfuly atmospheric restaurant to enjoy sushi bar and or a great menu of appetizers and entrees! I never knew that sushi was so wonderful until the delicious DC Roll at the Cultured Pearl. This is THE only place for sushi in my book for Rehoboth Beach, DE!!!!
