While the hideaway is exactly what its name entails, a hide-away bar that are only frequented by the alcoholics of our area, being a neighbor that has to hear the idiots on Harley Davidsons revving their engines (for no real apparent reason) at 10:30pm gives you the scope of the people that frequent this place. While the owners are friendly people, unfortunately i cannot say the same for the bartender who seems like she hates to even wake up in the morning, and subsequently takes it out on her patrons. The exterior of the bar is just about the ONLY appealing thing about this bar. The railing on the side of the bar is grotty and feels like someone wiped it down with a rag full of honey every morning and leaves a rather nasty smell on your hands if you touch it. Not the nicest place to go enjoy a drink.
I've been there on Karaoke night and totally agree with Sammy. I don't frequent places with loud drunks, however, there are less depressing places to spend an Evening in Wilmington, DE than this hole in the ground.
It's a great bar. Older crowd, inexpensive drinks.
Wednesday's and Saturday's are the best nights with Karaoke.
If you hate being around the young, loud, drunk, idiot's that frequent most bars then this is the place to come.
The only trash is the one's commenting on the place.
And thank you guys for the comments, because it helps keep your kind away.
The Hideaway draws an older crowd. This bar is in a run down old building that is in disrepair. The prices are reasonable and bar food is mediocre. The bathrooms are often dirty. Don't go on a hot night because the a/c barely works and it becomes uncomfortably hot. The only evening that draws a crowd is Saturday for Karaoke. Usually the same people with horrible voices get up to sing Karaoke every week.
