I went to the Works this past Wed. for a company gathering. I ordered chicken tenders and old bay seasoned fries. I don t know what was up with the food but at 4am, I woke up sick. I was throwing up and had diarrhea. It must have been some type of food poisoning. I was fine before I went there and after about 24 hours, I was again ok. Most people I talk to, also say the food is mediocre. I wouldn t recommend going there for dinner. I would go for the games but not dinner.
The Works and now Bldg24 are two of the best places to go for good food and a friendly staff. The Works has a very family friendly environment and a diverse menu. Bldg24 is a more upscale environment with a smaller amazing menu. The night club is open friday and saturday night with awesome entertainement and compairable drinks prices to anywhere in town. Something for everbody and we'll leave it at that!
Lots of fun if you have kids. Basically a Dave and Buster's, huge restaurant with huge game room. The menu looks good but the food is usually mediocre. Stick to the wings, pizzas and sandwiches. They have recently redesigned the restaurant to make a lot of smaller, quieter areas which is nice.
i can't say that i agree with some of the negative criticisms - portions too small, kids and alcohol and games don't mix, bar too small. as far as portions, they are certainly as large as any chain or other local restaurant. a smorgasboard might be a better choice for people who find the portions aren't large enough. admittedly some have a problem with alcohol and children, but i find that that isn't really an issue until 10pm or later, and by that time most children aren't hanging out playing games. the bar - you must be kidding - they just expanded the second floor bar to hold over 500 people and it is packed wall to wall on weekends.
as far as food quality, try one of the specials on a friday or saturday night. they have a trained chef who ahs been in the business 40 years. they hold their own with any, and i mean ANY, restaurant in the reading or even greater philly area.
if there's any problem, you may spend a lot in the game room.
if the place were that bad as some suggest, you wouldn't see 400 cars in the parking lot on the weekend. absolutely some of the comments are way off base.
