The Classic Diner
In September of 1995, The Classic Diner opened its doors to the public. Serving breakfast and lunch from 6am until 3pm, seven days a week, TCD has truly become a trendy landmark and mainstay restaurant in the Greater Philadelphia area. Our dedication to using only the finest, freshest ingredients, all prepared by hand, has earned many rave reviews and awards from: Best of Philly Diner on three occasions, Best Main Line Diner on several occasions, to County Lines Best Breakfast four years in a row and counting. First time guests and our large base of repeat clientele enjoy generous, delicious, well-presented traditional and non-traditional classic diner fare that rival some of the finest meals served in many upscale restaurants. In short, this is not your typical, diner food . It is, then, our continuous goal to set new standards in mastering the art of a well-prepared breakfast and lunch for the dining public.
Nice atmosphere - average service - misleading menu - overly salted pulled pork.. EVERYTHING is extra, and they say sure to substitutions but then they charge you for it as if it were a-la-carte. You're money would be better spent elsewhere.
Food is yummy and they have big portions. Staff is mostly unfriendly and food is pricey, and the staff don't tell you that you will pay more for substitutions. I switched a salad for a side of fruit and paid an extra $5 for it...
We made the mistake of arriving at 2:50 p.m., not realizing they close at 3 p.m. They were extremely rude and unwelcoming; we were extremely hungry, having missed lunch, and practically begged to be served. We promised to keep our order quick and simple. We had to request water, napkins, utensils, etc. I was dismayed to have pepper come out of the metal salt shaker (the one with more holes), since I don't like pepper. My politely pointing out their error (to prevent this from happening to others) was met with total indifference. The food was totally unmemorable and the awful attitude of the staff very memorable.
Absolutley AMAZING food!!! Absolutley AWFUL service!!! i have heard this many times and we went today to try this place for the first time, and it was very true, i will definatly try it a second time but if i have the same miserable and rude service i will not go back no matter how good the food is.
Extremely Poor Service: The waitress took the order, a runner brought out the food. The order was unfortunately incorrect and none of the waitstaff could be flagged down for approx 10-15 minutes. During this time no one returned to check on the table and the coffee was not refilled. On being made aware of the error, a quick and seemingly insincere apology was made with an offer to correct the order. To be fair: The portions were generous. But for a moderate to high-priced breakfast spot (e.g. $3cup of not-refilled brewed coffee,) this level of service is unacceptable.
WOW! After going to the Classic Diner for a few years I still say WOW!
Romantic atmosphere, laid back - excellent food and service. Bakery is great! Anyone I have brought there raves about the place. Try the bar for lunch. Coffee is great and so is the bacon. Presentation is ridiculous in that it is so appetizing. Very friendly staff. Try the pancakes or the parfait and I could go on and on.
Treat yourself to the Classic Diner!
