This was always my favorite restaurant. Last visit was dismal. The outside was rundown and cheap looking with mismatched plastic chairs. Our meal was horrible. Our raw bar shrimp was dry and our shrimp lejon tasted strange. Our steaks were terrible, bad cheap cuts of flavorless meat served with uncooked carrots. The hostess and waitresses were loud and unprofessional during our dinner. it's sad to see this once fantastic restaurant turn into such a mediocre, even poor restaurant.
My wife and I went for her birthday. We both got the house salad, it was fine. Bread and homemade butter was so good I asked for two plates. Kitchen seemed slow, but when her Filet Mignon and my Veal arrived it was excellent. Coffee was great, topped off with chocolate cake for her and delicious cheesecake for me. Nice place, we come back a few times a year.
Maybe it was an off night. The shrimp wrapped in bacon with horseradish were small, lukewarm and tough, only four for 11.50. The salad greens were limp, the balsamic vinaigrette was faint. The lobster tails were lukewarm, the Peruvian mashed potatoes were lukewarm, no discernable flavoring or presentation, most guests left untouched. The asparagus were done nicely, crisp. The bourbon pecan pie was room-temp instead of warm (accompanied by ice-cream), and much too sweet. When coffee came, milk instead of half and half appeared. Servers were very attentive and knowledgeable, food service, however, was extremely slow. For the prices, would not return, could eat at Red Lobster for better food. As mentioned at the beginning, might have been an off night,.
Was a terrific place years ago. Returned for dinner. The bartender was as enthusiastic as the melting ice on the raw bar with no conception of service. This visit was an off night. Table for 2 with no one else in the dining room. A group with 5 small children is seated directly next to our table. Obviously a mistake by the soon to be 17 year old hostess. I have returned several times to the likeable front bar, a new bar keeper is a must.
