Adobe Cafe, Philadelphia

We found the Adobe cafe by accident one night while driving around Roxborough. From its location I would say that you better know where you are going or it may be tough to find. The atmosphere and the food were wonderful and we can't wait to go back again. I might need Google to find it a second time. I have not been to alot of Mexican restaurants in Philly but it can hold its own with those in Texas and San Diego. Definitely worth the trip.

The food I ordered was cold. The rice was cold, the salsa was congealing, and though the chimichanga I ordered was warm at first, after I took one bite, it was cold (basically the ends were warm and the center was cold). I sent it back and the waitress said the manager would take 50% off. I called the manager to the table and said that I had only taken a few bites and didn't want to pay at all. She was very rude and cut me off in my explanation and said she'd take it off the bill. It was as if I was causing trouble and she didn't want to deal with it. The food tasted terrible, by the way. The drinks, Lynchburg Lemondade, was good though.

The Adobe Cafe is all-around the best Southwestern place in the Philadelphia area. I think it was just actually voted the best in that category (and not by a certain local, biased magazine). The portions are huge and you get more than your moneys worth, and they have several nightly specials including a Monday / Tuesday night $30 dinner and drinks special. It is a hidden gem tucked into the heart of Roxborough. I go at least once a week and never have to search for parking or wait to be seated. I reccomend this restaurant to everyone!

The food was great, the drinks real, the staff courteous and we stayed after dinner and had a great time. What more can you ask for? I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

I have been going to Adobe for a long time... around 15 years now. I highly recommend it for any type of gathering... be it a romantic night, dinner with a bunch of friends, lunch or just out for drinks. We had my sister in law's bridal shower there a few years ago too. I am local so I order take out often too... their wings are great and the Steak Tips are fabulous!!! I am going there tonight... appetizers and drinks. You can look for coupons in the area newspaper The Review, which you can find in most stores in the area.

The drinks were very good, not watered down like some other places. Best margaritas in town. Get the grilled jerk calamari, out of this world. Portions are ample for the price.

I try to go to the Adobe Cafe at least once a month. I crave the salsa at least that often. It is a very laid back atmosphere, which can lead to a slower meal than people are used to. But it is definitely worth the wait! Also, my boyfriend is a vegetarian and the Adobe has an entire vegetarian menu with a ton of options. I highly recommend it, espceially for anyone looking for a good vegetarian meal.

This is a solid Tex-Mex restaurant with plenty of seating, a patio, good margaritas and mojitos and a nice varied menu. There is nothing really like it in the area (Johnny Mananas is pretty poor). When you don't want to pay the prices (and hastle) for center city dining, and a taco joint won't cut it, this is the place. fun decor too.

A diamond in the rough, this restaurant has food for all discerning tastes. The entrees are inexpensive and full of flavor. The service is good with a friendly and considerate staff. My favorite dish is the house salad with seitan. It is so flavorful, that I barely use any dressing. The seitan steak tips are also excellent. I would eat here everyday if I could.
