Dalessandro's Steaks & Hoagies, Philadelphia

The service here is fast. My food was hot but I expected more. The cheesesteak was ok overall but I've actually had better at Max's in North Philly. The steak really didn't have much of a taste to it but it wasn't bad. Much better than Pat's or Geno's...they suck.

Best by far in Philly!!! I grew up in the area and go there every chance I get when I visit.

I'm 56. I've lived in Philly for most of my adult life. I've lived on cheesesteaks since I was a kid. Dalessandro's has, without question, the best cheesesteak in the city. Pat's, Geno's, even Jim's don't hold a candle to Dalessandro's. The rolls are always as fresh as they can be. The sauce is excellent, and the sandwiches are stuffed with steak. I always take any company from out-of-town to this place and they're always impressed favorably. Always! Clearly, everyone's taste preferences are different, but this place is ALWAYS packed so that should tell you something.

These steaks are something you can get in any pizza shop throughout Philly. Absolutely nothing special....Does not hold a candle to Genos.

My husband grew up three blocks from Dalessandro's and the first place he took me to was here (being from California and not knowing what a cheesesteak was). I have since had many trips back there to visit and have tried other steak places, but none beats Dale's and it is the first place we go when we land.

Dalessandro's boasts that it has the best steaks outside of Center City. I think, however, Dalessandro's should stop being so modest and declare that they have one of the best steaks in the entire city. Pat's, Geno's, Tony Luke's, and Jim's are all over-rated and not that good. On the other hand, Ishkibibbles located on South Street is very tasty. Now I'd like to see a Taste-off between the two steak houses.

I've lived in Philly all of my life and I think I've tried cheesesteaks all throughout and by far, Dalessandro's is the best anywhere - I don't know how many I've had in my life but I can tell you that whenever I treat myself to a cheesesteak I wait until I can get to Dalessandro's before I waste my time, money, or calories on any other - Forget about Pat's or Gino's - Come over to Roxborough and try one from here, I guarantee you'll never want one from anywhere else

These are what cheese steaks are supposed to taste like not that crap Pat's and Gino's shovels out. Go get some now!
