If you REALLY REALLY REALLY love DENSE pound cake then this is the bakery for you. But if you are looking for a bakery that serves up more than one flavor or even type of cake then keep looking. My husband and his family grew up on Stocks. We got our wedding cake there and only his family actually ate it. To me the icing is really gritty and sugary, not my thing at all.

sorry for the mediocre review but they're only known for the pound cake which is good, but not a butter pound. icing is mediocre.

love stocks had my wedding cake made there 43 yrs. ago onlything wish I knew secret to poundcake I have made tons trying to copy and no go oh well guess we need to get on RT 1 back to Philly

Lived in the Phila area for a very long time. Grew up on Stocks and 2 yrs ago moved to Arizona. Visited Phila a week ago and of course the first stop was STOCKS for some butter cookies and pound cake. Sent some back home to AZ and shared w/friends they said they never tasted anything that good. I guess this is a good enough reason to visit real soon.

It's Christmas time, I'm heading to Stocks from NJ, this morning for 6 pound cakes and 2 butter cakes. Great gifts, and when my wife sends me, I alsways get enough for us to keep one. A cooking tip. Sllce a piece of poundcake about as thick as bread, pop it in the toaster and add a little good butter. Nothing is better Remember CASH only

Love that pound cake. As a 63 year old who grew up in the Northeast and only left the Philadelphia 3 years ago I was shocked to learn that Lehigh Avenue was now in the Northeast. Did an earthquake move it?

Important to know, if it hasn't been mentioned already - this is a CASH ONLY merchant - no credit or MAC cards - and bring extra cash because you always see something else you like when you go there! You will never have another cake as good.
