This is by far THE best Mexican restaurant in Philadelphia! I love the unlimited fresh salsa and chips they start you off with. They serve the best Margaritas and Long Island Iced Teas. It's also BYOB. I always get the Mexican chicken soup no matter what season it is! I love the Camaron Vallarta and the Jalisco Special with chicken. For dessert the Banana Changa is the best. They wrap a banana in a tortilla and fry it, then put some yummy syrups over top and whipped cream. The wait staff is always friendly and efficient. Great ambience and decor! I love that they all wear the same colored shirts too! Bravo El Azteca II
At first our drinks were mixed up with another table, which left us without ours for a good ten minutes. We had to flag down the bus staff to give us more chips while we waited for our server to come take our order. Once we ordered it took nearly an hour to get our food. The food was pretty much swimming in grease, which did appeal to some of my fellow diners however if you consider your figure, it was unappetizing.
The service at the restaurant is GREAT fast, and friendly, and the prices aren't too bad for Philadelphia and the food tastes pretty good. This place is never crowded so if you are out in Philly and are craving mexican food this is the place to go (PS the Guacamole is made from REAL avacados too!) Beware they are not open on Sundays and it is BYOB but Margarita pitchers are 6 bucks just supply your own tequila
I can't imagine anyone giving this restaurant a rave reviews has ever been to Mexico. This is clasic, plain border food. Nothing fancy, nothing gormet, nothing to offend. They do have great chips and salsa, but everything else is fairly bland run of the mill. For my money I'd much rather go a block down to Walnut St to El Fuego. They do have good service and this is a solid lunch location to get in and out of with no hastle.
El Azteca has to be the most incredible Mexican restaurant in the city, for sure! Seems like all the big name restaurants get the credit, but one trip to this place will surely win you over. The food is authentic and home made. Prices are very reasonable. You can bring your own tequila, and buy
margarita mix by the pitcher. The staff makes you feel so welcome, and they really go all out to accommodate your needs. Big parties there are awesome.
It's just THE place in Philly to go for the best Mexican food and the best time
A great place to go with a large group of friends. El Azteca's staff is friendly and they will make margaritas for your group if you bring the tequila. There is a large selection of food to chose from and the prices are low. The vegetarian selections leave something to be desired but overall the food is decent.
