The Prime Rib
Gargantuan cuts of prime beef, extra thick chops, and simply prepared fresh seafood are the straightforward offerings of this steakhouse that evokes the supper clubs of Manhattan in the 1940's. Leopard print carpeting, black lacquered walls trimmed in brass and tuxedoed waiters complete the elegant atmosphere, featuring live piano and bass nightly. Dress code is business casual.
There are many fine restaurants in Philly but when you want to experience real first class dinning, this is the place to go. I love a great steak and I have found the place to get in on Rittenhouse Square. I have been to many of the best steak houses around the country including Peter Lugers but in my book, this one beats them all for exceptional meals. What impressed me was quality of the service. The waiter was not only attentive but knowledgeable in the food he was serving. His attention to our needs was superb. It sounds like an add but I can't stress enough the overall experience of enjoying a meal here. On the evening I went, there was a trio playing jazz that was just the right volume. Not to overpower the surroundings. When I saw no one had reviewed this restaurant, I couldn't imagine why. After some thought, I believe that they don't want to draw a crowd to a favorite spot. Although there already is a large following. An excellent place for a sophisticated or romantic evening out.
We had the pre-show fixed menu. I didn't feel that it lived up to the hype or the price, but it was still very good. I had limited options of course because of the fixed menu, so I'd be interested to see what else they had.
