I just stopped by, I live in Ohio and had to go to Geisinger hospital to see my son so, I figured I was this close to Berwick that I better get some of my favorite pizza in the world, they didn't fail me. I hadn't had Scicchitanos in over 6 years and had even thought about asking if they could mail me a pizza. I do hope I make it back some day but, 375 miles is pretty far to travel for pizza but, if I really get the urge, I'll do it. Thank You so very much for the awesome food.
They say pizza is like sex. Even when it's bad it's good. Now, I won't go as far as to say this pizza is bad, but it's certainly not 'Out of this world', nor is it the best pizza in Columbia county. I'll give it an official 'It's not terrible'. The taste is only okay, the pizza itself just seemed not very well made. I ordered two pies, one of them was very well done and a dark color, the other one was a lighter color and not cooked very evenly. The pizza just didn't look very good, it looked nothing like the picture in the promotional pamphlet we got in the mail. The crust on the darker pie was nice and crispy but that was really the only good thing about it. It wasn't cut well, which while it's not a big deal, just detracted more from the pizza experience. The lighter pie crust was not at all crispy and seemed underdone. This pie was falling apart and was very thin in some parts, too thin to hold. Overall the pizza was very greasy, but not in a good way.
I like to think that I am very objective when it comes to pizza places, and this one I just can't give more than 2 stars. It was really about 2 1/2 if it makes them feel better, but I just couldn't bring myself to round that up to 3. I'd say it was not as good as Stuccio's, Paragan, Famosa's, or even King's. It was better than Original Italian Pizza and East End Pizza for what that's worth.
To be fair, I haven't tried their Doagies, and the desserts look fantastic. This is the second time we've gone to Scicchitano's. We got a promotional menu in the mail which made us want pizza and I would have felt guilty not giving them a second chance. I wish I had gone to Stuccio's or Paragan's.
best italian food in berwick!!! columbia countie for that matter. the desserts are out of this world!!! doagies rock!!if you want good, affordable italian food come on in and say hi to everyone!! the service is fabulous everyone is so friendly!! go say hi to joey, mari, and sharon during the day and ms d and the girls at night!! try some italian ice too!!!
Scicchitano's is one of the best restaurants in the greater Berwick area. They are home of the original doagie, which truely is yummie. Their food is greatly portioned and an exceptionally cheap for what you get. 2nd on my list is their Calzones with ham, cheese and pineapple. It is to die for. So give them a call and chow down!!
