I have been reading the reviews and find some of them so discouraging. I do appreciate the honesty though. However, I am not a local and I have been going to Smuggler Cove for a number of years. I find the servers quite friendly, the salad bar has a nice selection, the drinks wonderful and the drive from the Lehigh Valley on a sunny day fantastic. In fact, on this lovely 4th of July I have made reservations to once again enjoy the food, amosphere, and the pleasant employees I have come to know them for. I can almost taste the succulent steak, the lobster with butter a glass of wine and all with wonderful friends. Happy 4th of July!!!
I went to the restaurant when they had there surf and turf special for 18.95 which seemed like a great place since most fancy restaurants charge low 30's for there surf and turf. Our food was great and so was the service. My only dislike is from the outside and the way the place advertises it comes off more up scale then it really is once you enter. Inside is a bit dreary (not like fancy dim lighting i mean dreary) and just more ruby tuesday/ perkins looking.
I was originally going to write a decent review of my recent visit to Smugglers, however, after looking at the recent comments I decided on addressing a point.
I get the impression that the past few 'glowing' reviews were submitted by friends/employees of the restaurant. I guess when dealing with local clientele, instead of honestly fielding comments, it is far better to just rudely dismiss complaints and have acquaintances campaign on your behalf.
Therefore I wont submit my judgement for view. Instead I'll just let everyone continue to prattle on, lobbying for whatever imaginary review they choose to concoct.
This establishment is horrific! I decided to give it a second chance while visiting The Pocono’s. The salad bar was a disgusting mess, my filet mignon was consistent to a piece of leather and cooked way beyond well when I ordered it medium. All the waitress had to say was “I’m very sorry sir.” Never again.
This is one of the best places to eat in the poconos. The prices are great for the portions. For starters, we had the crispy calamari, which is the best i've ever had and was enough to serve four and there were only two of us. The salad bar had great variety. Our waiter was very pleasant and knowledgable of the menu. The hostess was very kind when we asked for directions. Will definitely be back and will recommend it to friends. :)
