Mama's Italian Restaurant, Dracut

Take an Italian-style restaurant and blend in some 50's decor and you have Mama's on Chelsmford St in Chelmsford. Mama's is one of the few and possibly the largest Italian restaurant in the area. Seating was quick in the near empty establishment even though it was a late Saturday afternoon. The waitress was friendly but she became slower as the meal went on and it was not because she was the only one there or that it was getting busy. In fact, we waited longer for the check to arrive then the meal. The appetizers selection was good with the toast ravioli's lacking any decent ragotta flavor. The meal portions were large however the chicken parm and meatballs looked store bought and frozen. The antipasto was more American then traditional even though it was overflowing with vegetables, meats and cheese. The restaurant itself was clean and the parking is certainly plentiful. The price was right for the portions and quality of the food. Not your traditional family Italian restaurant but for an area that lacks traditional restaurants, it did well.

The food is okay. The ambiance is fine. The service was abrupt. I like the Chelmsford Mama's better than Dracut - service and food were much better there.
