I think I am biased in favor of this place because I first began staying here as an adolescent in the 80 s. When me and my wife got engaged, we went again and have come every other year since, now with our own kids. The kids love it because it has a playground and indoor pool (though it seemed unheated this year) and a game room. It also has a great location and a good breakfast. The prices are affordable too. There s no doubt that the place is dated (some of the decor, chairs, etc. are exactly the same as they were back in the 80 s), but I still think it s a good deal, especially if you have smaller kids. My only complaint this year was a trashy family who hoarded the one washing machine and dryer by seemingly washing every item they owned, but that s hardly the hotel s fault. All in all, it s not the cleanest, most modern, or nicest hotel, but a good value. I ve stayed here probably 10-11 times and never had a serious problem or gripe.
we stay here about every six months. they have really improved as far as installing newer and cleaner items. the staff has become more courteous, it is kind of a provincial trait in that area to be sour (we have family there) and curt...I think they must have read online reviews because there is a difference...the location and price is what has kept us coming for quite a number of years
This hotel is right between the 2 big outlets and next door to Dutch Wonderland. We walked from the hotel to Dutch Wonderland and did not need to deal with strapping the kids in and out of their car seats.
Lots for the kids to do too. They loved the playground, game room, and indoor pool. Breakfast buffet was amazing as well. I read some of the other complaints - some people will never be happy. This is not a 5 star resort - it does not claim to be and does not cost $500 a night. You want the best, go pay the 5 star resort prices! We enjoyed everything and had a wonderful stay.
We stayed at this hotel because it was right across from our convention at the Host. This place was very run down and will never stay again. We plan to return to Lancaster in the Spring but will never stay at this hotel. The room was old and the bathroom was very dirty. There was bugs in the room and when we complainted the desk clerk was very rude. Obviously the management does not care about their guest's comfort. There are plenty of other hotels and we will be staying at something better than this run down place !!!!!
We have stayed at this hotel several times in the last 7 years, and have had nothing to complain about. This year the pool was too cold to swim in, and it was a major disappointment for us. We like to go out and shop, come back to the hotel go for a swim, and a hot tub, relax, and go out for dinner. This year, despite repeated requests, the temperature of the pool was too cold. Not sure if it's new management, or a cost saving device, but we will think long and hard when booking our next trip.
Having read the reviews from last year, I was apprehensive when our group made reservations. But there were some encouraging reviews so I figured ok, I have been in A LOT worse. Not only was the check in easy, the staff were phenomenal! The room was clean and tidy, everything worked. The fridge did not freeze my water, there was an adjustable temp on the back. The beds were comfortable and made everytime. Not one person complained about anything. We have already agreed to be back next year! Oh, the internet service was the best one out of the 5 hotels we have used before this. The breakfast was great! Staff friendly and accessible! Definitely recommend!
Went during the fall - great time to visit! Hotel was great - kids loved the indoor pool and the breakfast. Game room kept them busy too! It's right next door to Dutch Wonderland so we were able to walk for the Happy Hauntings afternoons. Read the other person's horrible comments - a person like that will always be miserable and will always find something to complain about. Maybe that's why the manager brushed her off - I wouldn't want to deal with a crazy lady either ! :)
We stayed here on the advice of a friend. When we arrived there was not a complete coffee service and they didn't provide hair dryers. I did request one and after a very long time I got one. I used the small refrig to store some produce from the Amish country and it froze in the refrig. Be careful if you use it. The sheets were just thrown on the bed and weren't tucked in and when you moved much the bare mattress was in sight. The room was good sized but there was a large empty space where a comfy chair could have set. On the plus side the price of our stay included a very nice buffet breakfast with omelettes made to order - good coffee, etc.
