Love the atmosphere, bar is beautiful with great beer selections and cozy fireplace, dining is rustic and romantic, service staff attentive, the only drawback is the chef doesn't know lump crabmeat from backfin or a cabernet reduction from red dye #2. Meet and mingle, great. Fine dining, no.
We love the place, been there several times even travel a distance to get there. Food is great and reasonable, however that said we did have our dissapointments it seems when things get busy, well we got the wrong order and another time our food was ice cold it seems our waitdress forget to pick it up in the kitchen. she did offer to heat it up but, we sucked it up and just ate it. I did e-mail them to let them know about it and TWO MONTHS later I got an apology. I would still recommend the Bluebird and we will continue to go back for now.
VERY GOOD FOOD AT A VERY REASONABLE PRICE. We got a $30 voucher from our hotel for one of 6 local restaurants. (It's a good idea to tell the wait staff about it as you are seated). The hotel (Hampton Inn in Manheim) said they do their catering so we went there (on a Saturday night). It was a little out of the way (4 miles from the hotel)so we were not expecting a crowd, but there was, especially if you wanted to sit out on the deck (We avoided a 45-minute wait by going inside to eat). The food is very modestly priced (Because of the crowd , it did take a while to be served). There was a good variety on the menu. We had chicken, beef and crabcakes between us. (No desserts for us, but only because we wanted to get back before dark). The waitress was very friendly, the soda refills were free (and without having even to ask or more) and we were not rushed out like some places might do when it gets crowded. Although you might feel like you were in the middle of nowhere, it was just a couple of miles from a busy road (Route 72 as I remember) and the restaurant looked like it could have been in any very nice suburb. All in all it was a pleasant experience.
Good visual stimulation by numerous Televisions and well rounded selection of Beers on tap & Bottled. Food selection is toward the conservative in selection, nothing fancy but never to out of place in todays busy traveler looking for warm conversation from anyone. I advise anyone not to eat the Chicken Bar-B-Que with peanut butter.
