Giving it one star because that is the lowest this review system will go.
Went there three times. Time number one was some years ago for a Christmas party. My fish was obviously frozen and re-heated, burnt on the bottom, cool on top, and still frozen in the middle. We tried to order some extra hors d oeuvres, and they wouldn t allow us. That was strange.
Time two was for my parent s 50th wedding anniversary. Despite assurances that they didn t use any MSG, my mother in law who is really allergic to it, had a reaction, and we had to use her epi-pen. Staff didn t care - preferring to play the CYA game.
Time number three was at a work event, my wife s steak was ordered well and came out bloody rare. They reheated the steak. Still rare, time three, was a piece of shoe leather, but still not really well done. And I got more of the We don t care attitude. With a healthy dose of insinuation that it was our fault because she wanted it well done.
If their chef s cannot prepare a steak to a customer s order, perhaps they should pay themselves, because it isn t about the customer.
And a chef that cannot prepare a steak well done that is still tender, they do not know how to cook a steak. I can do it every time.
I ll starve to death before I eat any food at the Bellefonte house of attitude again. Three times is more than just chance, it s how they operate.
We had a decidedly mixed experience. Very cute decor. Service was slow and inattentive. My wife's steak was wa way under done. They took an eternity to fix it. Turns out they just reheated her old one! Who does that? So she ended up with a medium and very dry fillet mingon. They didn't offer to do anything as a result. That's unheard of at a higher end place. Heck, even olive garden will take it off the check! 2 hours for dinner, mostly waiting: for our server, to order, for water, for everything. Disappointing since they weren't even busy.
Food was very well prepared and presented. Selection was fair to good. Price was high, and the wine selection is very good. Service was attentive but inexperienced. Building is beautiful but lacking acoustics. Would return- worth the stop!
After meaning to go here for so long, I finally made it. I found a well rounded menu with lots of good choices. Nothing too exotic but something to please everyone. The food was prepared perfectly and the serving size was just right, not oversized like many places. Save room for dessert because the pastry chef has some great choices.
