Boxer's Cafe, Huntingdon

Food is excellent as always, but just got some smoked almonds there today. The guy said they just got them in yesterday. Well, they are outdated. The use-by date is Jan 19, 2010.

Boxer's Cafe is my favorite restaurant! I always return to this place. It's a small, can be considered cramped, but I think that's part of it's charm. The interior features some lovely, historic woodwork and interesting decor featuring beer and boxers (the dog). Boxer's has a huge selection of beer: best place in the area to find imports. The music they play is great and they even manage to have live bands in there (which is surprising, considering the size of the restaurant). Before I turned 21, I loved this place for the food (now I love it for the food AND beer!). There are great vegetarian and even some vegan options (meat eaters can find some tasty dishes as well). My favorite thing about the food is Boxer's tries their best to serve organic, locally grown foods (that's even stated on the menu). But a meal at Boxer's is never complete without their carrot cake - the other desserts are great too, but that carrot cake...oh man! Most of the customers at Boxer's are students from Juniata College or Huntingdon locals: it's a shame this restaurant isn't known more throughout Central PA. If you do visit, try not to be too offended or base your whole opinion of Boxer's Cafe on their staff: a particular few may not be the most warm or friendliest, but they do get you your food, fill your drinks, and allow you to enjoy your meal (I've never had a problem with any of the workers but I have heard people complain about a couple of the servers). If you get to be a regular, you'll get to know the staff really well and find out they are some really cool people. So, if you're passing through or live in the area, Boxer's Cafe is a must to check out!

Awesome place! They have a large and exotic selection of beers. The atmosphere is very warm with friendly service. The food is outstanding, fresh and high quality. The prices are also excellent. Warning, kitchen closes at 9pm.

Boxer's is Huntingdon's Cheers. I have been going to this place since I turned 21 and there's always a great group of people working here. They're friendly and once you get to know them, it's like an extended family. This is also the only place in town to really experience any decent import beers. They have Guinness on tap and a ton of others to choose from in the cooler. The aura of this place is great and they always have some great jazz, folk or blues music to dine to. The food is a little pricier than say your local fast food resturants, but well worth it....and you never leave still hungry! Once in a great while they will have live music, but it gets a little bit cramped since the place isn't very large. Nonetheless it usually stays pretty packed on the weekends. If you're in Huntingdon, this is one place you definitely have to check out. Infact it's the only place HA! You'll meet some great people and enjoy some great beer and food.
