The restaurant was recommended by the Hotel Staff, and we are glad they did! The food was fabulous! Homemade salad dressings were delish! My husband had the olive oil and garlic pasta and said it was the best he's had. It is small, quaint restaurant with only a handful of tables. We brought 3 young children with us. It probably wasn't the best place for kids (as they didn't even have a high chair), but they were very accommodating and kind to our children. Only complaint would be that there was music blaring from the kitchen that you could hear when initially walking in and when the kitchen doors were open. Highly recommend this restaurant!
yes- reservations are a must as the place is quaint and intimate. not much room but very romantic for a dinner for two. my girlfriend and i have been going to Danny's for the past 2 years and we love it. the food is fresh and the service is well above average. there's a nice little bar for friends to meet. if you've got a date to impress, she will love Danny's.
We have lived in Erie for a little over 3 years and I am now regretting taking so long to try Danny's out. Everything was superb. My salmon was incredible with a sweet but subtle glaze that didn't interfere with the naturally great taste of the salmon. My wife equally enjoyed her scrod.
I asked the waiter to recommend a wine to go with the salmon and was brought the smoothest pinot grigio I have ever had.
For dessert we shared a piece of cheesecake (I think creme brulee) that made you slowly savor each and every delicious bite. Even the coffee brought accolades.
The worst we can say is that the salad was a bit ho hum being garden variety (sorry) iceberg lettuce with not much taste. But to its credit it was very fresh and crisp. Choose your favorite dressing and it should be fine.
We were also impressed by the Cheers like ambiance with many friends gathering around the small bar enjoying each others company. Indeed the entire dining area is on the small side so be sure to make reservations.
